DSP Gift Bag

Here's a gift bag I made for a Craft show.   It took me about 5 minutes to put this together,so I ended up making several in a variety of DSP colors.  SO much easier than spending $3 on one bag from the store.

I used   TWO- 12x12 designer series papers and scored at 1", and 8" on the first side, then turned and scored at 4".

The one inch sides will meet up to each of the two four inch sides: this is where you would apply adhesive.  Then you would fold the bottom like a package. (I used a double sided tape and a dab of hot glue.)
I cut an additional solid strip for the outside to offset the pattern before punching 2 holes for the handles on each side.  You can also add another piece for the bottom of the inside to give more stability.

DSP TREE

Here's a little project I made to kick off the Holiday Season.  I bought the foam tree from the Dollar Store and cut 3 sheets of DSP in 1 x 3 1/2 strips, curled the ends with a pencil and hot glued on.   The Topper is In Color Ribbon, also hot glued on.  This is a very simple project (I have never tried this before and have seen these at Craft Fairs anywhere from $5 - $20). It took me about an hour to complete after cutting and curling the ribbon.

Happy Thanksgiving

My Digital Studio- Labels

Happy Monday Everyone!  Today's post features labels I made using My Digital Studio 2 and 3M full sheet labels.   It took me about 5 minutes to make the lid and jar label and about 10 minutes to make the Hershey kiss labels ( I had to print twice to ensure the images would fit in the 3/4" punch). Overall, it was super easy and I was able to get 12 jars filled and labeled in about an hour and a half.    I found the "Elf Kisses" idea on Google and then on Pinterest.
My preschool will be reading Elf on a Shelf and I thought this would be a good incentive for them, not including the craft and hobby fair I will be participating in.

Supplies Needed: My Digital Studio 2
jolly bingo bits, joyful times digital designer series paper
digital decorative label ( I enlarged to 3 1/2 x 2)
3M adhesive sheets
3/4" circle punch
scissors

Leaves, Leaves, and More Leaves

Here are some Fall cards I am working on. Still need to add the words and the buttons, but this gives you an idea on how to use this die. Pinterest has some great layouts to use. I spent a couple of hours searching for cards and I'm now following a few people that have over 7000 cards posted.

I just got the Autumn Accents Bigz Die (127812) a few days ago from the Holiday Catalog and I am having so much fun with it. No more hunting for paper or fabric leaves at the craft store when I can make them myself.   I also use them for collage material in my child care.

I had alot of success using 3 sheets of card stock at a time to cut out my leaves, then I ran them through again in the embossing folders to give them a "real" look. They match the beautiful colors of the tree in my backyard view to the southeast towards the Rocky Mountains.

Card stock & ink: Choc. Chip, Sahara Sand, Old Olive,
Pumpkin Pie,  Daffodil Delight, Cajun Craze,
                 and Cherry Cobbler

                 DSP: Orchard Harvest

Accessories: Autumn Accents Die, Square Lattice Folder,
Spider Web Folder, Shimmer Paint, pop dots,
                scrap ribbon, sponges

Anything but a card- Hair Barrettes

I think I'm addicted to Stampin' Up! 's embellishments.  I was re-organizing my craft room ( which I seem to do alot) and as I was hanging up the ribbon rod, I realized that I have a ton of SU ribbon and buttons from 8 years ago.  Luckily, everything still matches, only have a few retired colors.  SO, I decided to make hair bows; mostly for the 4 little girls in my preschool and maybe I'll have enough for a craft fair eventually.  I'm not as crafty as I would like to be, so I watched several YouTube video tutorials to make these.   So here is one I made, as I'm still configuring the Halloween bows.  Enjoy!!!

It's already October

With 9 days til my husband's military retirement, I am spending these last few days cleaning house and prepping for friends and family that will be arriving soon.  I think the only thing I have accomplished is organizing my craft room. I haven't seen the table in 3 months with all the projects on it.  Hopefully I will get some card making in.  I have completed my MDS scrapbook for my child care and will be ordering it soon.  I am excited that Stampin' Up! has single stamp sets for sale from a few different sets.  Just means I have more on my "NEED TO GET" list.   Happy Stamping!!!

Anything but a Card: Paper Pumpkins

I have been in a Fall sorta crafting mood and I decided to try to make these paper pumpkins once again.   I found myself on looking on pinterest, in old Stampin' Connection magazines, and in Better Homes and Garden when I came across instructions for a 2 in 1 paper pumpkin.   I hate directions without a video tutorial, so it took me several attempts to get my pumpkin (pictured above) to come out just right.    So, here's how I did it:
Pumpkin 1 (outside) 10- 14 strips of Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up!
size 1/2" x 8"
Pumpkin 2: 14 strips of dsp   1/2" x 7"
2 brads and a strip of green paper curled.

The 2 pumpkins are attached at the top and bottom.  I started with the inside pumpkin (black) and alternated the strips (so I wouldn't have to adjust them again) with the brad facing me (easier to put it together) then I repeated the process again with the out side pumpkin (orange).  Then, I curled a scrap piece for the stem and used the same brad holding all the paper.

Halloween Projects

"Frankie" is hanging on my Halloween tree I made using dead branches and black spray paint. Couldn't spend $24.95 on a pre-made tree from the craft store, so I made it myself. I'm still in the process of making a mummy, ghost, and black cat to hang on it.  I'll try to get a better view of the entire tree when everything is all done.

I was asked to make "Frankie" into an invitation for a soon to be 5 year old's  October birthday party.  I was given the picture and he was originally a box. He is two pieces. Old Olive face and basic black back. The card swivels open with a brad hidden under his hair.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Old Olive, Whisper White, Basic Black
Top Note Die and Web embossing Folder
1 1/4" Circle Punch and Tab Punch
Black ribbon and snail
black glitter spray

Are You Ready for Fall?

I'm not quite ready for cold weather yet and luckily its been in the low 80's during the day.  I am ready to stamp, craft, and decorate for Halloween.  I have been working on several things this week:  Frankenstein invitations, Halloween tree, album on MDS2, and other fun crafts.  My preschoolers are going crazy over the fall leaves I have around the mantle and the little vampire soap bottle in the bathroom.  When I finish my tree decorations and everything is complete , I will upload pictures.

What are you working on?  Please feel free to share your fall/ Halloween ideas. Happy Stamping! :)

Layered Card using MDS2

Here's a layered card I made using My Digital Studio 2.  My inspiration for this came from a card I received during a swap at Denver Regionals.  Her card was physically stamped, which I haven't figures out exactly how to do quite as nice as hers but I had no problem on the computer  < go figure :)  > .
I used Lucky Limeade and Whisper White as my layers then colored in the flowers using Pacific Point, Lucky Limeade, and Crushed Curry.  I think this turned out well and pretty amazing if I say so my self.   Tell me what you think. Thanks for Looking and Happy Stamping!

MDS2-Lego Birthday Card

Here's the Lego birthday card I made for my nephew using the FREE MDS2 download.  This was my first successful attempt at actually printing out the cards I have made using digital.   Like I said in an earlier post, I have the original MDS but never figured it out until a few days ago after the presentation at Regionals.   The tutorials help too.  I'm still a stampin' gal and like to get my hands dirty and glitter everywhere but this program will be especially useful when I put my daycare/ preschool albums together.  Thanks for Looking and Enjoy... Happy Stampin :)

My Digital Studio

I've been "playing" with MDS2.  I was able to download Stampin' Up!'s new digital content for FREE and I have it to use for 30 days. (with NO commitment) After the last few days,  I'm pretty sure I will be purchasing the new content sooner than later.

The reason I am so excited, is that I thought going "digital" was OK ( I do have the original MDS and have used it on the computer but not done anything with what I have created) until the presentation at Regionals. We, ( everyone there) got a short but very educational presentation and view of what the new MDS2 can do.  So,I actually sat down and watched  tutorials on the " how tos"  to help me make sense of what I couldn't figure out by myself then applied it to my projects. Within minutes, I had an awesome Lego card for my nephew along with some subway art I saw on Pinterest.

Be on the look out, I will be posting some things I have created with MDS2 over the next couple of days!  Happy Stamping!!! even if your computer helps :)

More 3D Art

Here are two card boxes full of cards.  It was so AWESOME to see so many ideas at regionals and then to be part of such a wonderful swap made it more exciting. I did kind of feel bad about just having my animal purses for the swap. ( I forgot to fill them with treats). Lesson learned and I will be more prepared if I get to attend convention or another regionals. I will have more than 50 cards to exchange and participate in more organized swaps.

3D exchange Art I received

Here is another wonderful gift I received during the 3D swap at lunch.  I've always thought about making my own tile decor but never knew how or what to do and was too afraid to just jump in and get it done.  This Christmas tile decor inspires me to TRY this technique soon.

Here's a cute little embossed kraft boxed filled with stamped shortbread cookies and a little mummy. Simply adorable and another great idea for a teacher gift or for a child's party.

Denver Regionals!!!

Oh my what a wonderful day  I had at Denver Regionals!!!!!   I almost didn't make it today because I wasn't feeling well last night. After going to bed REAL early and getting up @ 6 am to be out the door on time I met so many WONDERFUL people including Shelli Garner (CEO and CO Founder of SU) and of course Sherril from Late Nite Stampers.   This was my FIRST time to ever attend a Stampin' Up! Regional event and it was unbelievable.  We ( the 400 'friends') there had the opportunity to learn new techniques, business info, win PRize Partrol PRIZES, and had lots of fun.  The make-n-takes and card exchanges were the best.   I will be posting my favorite SWAPS and WOWS that I received and pictures frpm Regionals over the next couple days!   Happy Stamping!!!

Look for the picture of the SU box you see above with the saying "It's Like Christmas In A Box" on their blog. Then look for their clue.

Once you've found 50 clues, list them and where you got them, along with your name and email address to  istmpnv@aol.com so  your name can be entered into the Fall Treasure Hunt give away! The drawing will be held Oct 31 and the winner will be notified by email.
